The Unified School District No. 505 board of education reorganized its leadership Tuesday evening, electing Roberta Carter as board president and Josh Baker as vice president. Carter was nominated by Brock Aday and confirmed after the board moved to cease nominations; the vice-presidency was filled by a nomination from Carter and closed by motion. The board noted one member absent and carried all reorganization motions unanimously, 6-0.
Board members also approved a broad reorganization consent agenda, appointing KASB legal services as board attorney; Terri Ross as board clerk; Debbie Yost as board treasurer; and designating district coordinators for federal civil-rights and Section 504 matters (Superintendent Dr. Bobbi Williams and Assistant Superintendent/Principal Jolene Hall). The board adopted its regular meeting schedule (second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM) with specified locations in Chetopa and St. Paul and approved a resolution to waive GAAP for fiscal year 2025–26 pursuant to KSA 75-1120a(c)(1).
