County prosecutor approves five-year Axon agreement for evidence management

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement Oct. 7 allowing the Prosecutor’s Office to interface with Axon's evidence-management platform. Prosecutor Chris Lane told the board the arrangement "allows them to interface with Axon, which allows them to download evidence directly. It holds all of their evidence and allows them to view videos, transcribe videos and summarize. This is a five year contract but if he isn't elected next year there is a provision that it can be voided if there is a new elected official."
Attorney Rick Fox noted the proposal included taxes and Lane said he will provide the office's tax-exempt certificate to remove taxes from the contract price. The board voted unanimously to approve the agreement. The contract is administratively handled through the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council, per Lane, and is intended to streamline evidence access and transcription for the prosecutor's office.
Commissioners recorded no objections during the public meeting; staff follow-up will include submitting the tax-exempt certificate and executing the agreement under the terms discussed.
