Floyd County prosecutors’ office signs independent contracts, approves two new deputies-in-waiting

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved several contract actions for the Prosecutor’s Office during its Oct. 7 meeting. Prosecutor Chris Lane explained the contract for Jackie Clowers "is between Ms. Clowers and the 52nd Judicial Circuit for as Civil Forfeiture. It will not cost the County anything," and the board approved the contract unanimously.
Lane also presented independent contract agreements for certified legal interns Nicholas Vaughn and Abigail Morin. According to Lane, both have passed the bar and "will be sworn in October 25th. They will then be eligible to be Deputy Prosecutors on October 28th." Motions to approve each contract were moved by Commissioner Jason Sharp, seconded by Commissioner Frank Loop and passed unanimously.
The actions formalize short-term independent-contractor arrangements and anticipated transitions to deputy-prosecutor roles once state swearing-in occurs. No vote tallies by name beyond unanimous board approval were recorded in the meeting minutes.
