Board pledges up to $5,000 to Virginia 250 committee, encourages EDA match

Trent Funkhouser asked the board to consider the request and suggested it be framed as a challenge grant that the EDA would match. "If y'all would fund up to 5,000, I believe the EDA will fund up to 5,000," he said. The board moved and seconded a motion to approve $5,000 and to encourage the EDA to match; the motion passed unanimously by roll call. The presenters said leftover funds would be returned or used for related program costs and that school assemblies were planned around the speaker events.
