The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Feb. 3 to authorize purchase of furniture for the county's new airport terminal using a Commonwealth Aviation Fund grant. County staff told the board the state approved $42,256.80; the remaining local share would be $4,225.68.
'We applied for a grant from the Commonwealth Aviation Fund' and 'it was approved for $42,256.80, leaving a local share of $4,225.68,' airport representative Mr. Lewis told the board. He said the airport committee's list of desired items totaled about $47,000 but that staff could cut the list to match the state award. The board approved a motion to proceed with purchases up to the state-approved amount and leave room for future, separate requests if additional funding is needed.
Board members said they appreciated the airport committee's work and asked that staff continue cost-conscious purchasing. The motion to approve the $42,256.80 purchase passed by roll call with all members voting yes. The board also encouraged supervisors and staff to inspect the new terminal in person when convenient.
