Senate sets finance hearing schedule, committee deadlines and adjourns

Chairman Watson told the Senate that standing committees completed their first week of budget hearings and that finance will begin a second week with 18 hearings across eight committees, including an economic presentation from the University of Tennessee and an overview from the sports wagering council. He also asked members to contact the finance office or Catherine Hare in legislative budget analysis with questions and set the revenue subcommittee's first meeting for Feb. 24.
Chairman Briggs reminded members that the deadline to file amendments to the liquor-by-the-drink omnibus bill is tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.; Chairman Massey announced deadlines for license-plate and road-bridge naming amendments and advertised TDOT breakfasts and a women's health breakfast. Leader Johnson presented and the Senate adopted the proposed schedule for the week of Feb. 16 and moved adjournment until 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026; the Senate adjourned.
