Commissioners cancel Pocket Creek project, move $445,113 back to general fund

The Sublette County Board of County Commissioners voted March 3 to cancel the Pocket Creek project and return $445,113.47, less any outstanding invoices, to the county general fund. Commissioner Bradley made the motion, which Commissioner Vickrey seconded; the motion carried 4-1 with Chairman Lynn Bernard opposed.
Billy Pape, Road and Bridge, had provided an update and relayed information from Rio Verde Engineering about the project. After the vote Pape asked whether Road and Bridge could complete a portion of the work using the department’s budget; the Board granted that request. Mike Jackson with Rio Verde Engineering also provided the information the Board had requested at the prior meeting.
Board members did not record a dollar estimate for any further work to be completed by Road and Bridge in the meeting minutes. The motion’s text instructed the county treasurer to return the specified funds to the general fund net of any unpaid contractor invoices. The Board carried the motion 4-1.
