Commission updates: vacated streets, new ordinances and Willow feasibility study advance despite local objections

During the meeting commissioners reviewed actions taken since the last session. Commissioner Brown also reported on a recent Willow feasibility presentation attended by the Lieutenant Governor's office and consultants. He said public comment and letters highlighted problems with the feasibility study but that staff was notified by email the study would proceed: "They basically just said, 'Well, thanks for your input, but too bad... we feel like they met everything that was required'" he said, adding frustration that residents and the commission believed the study had shortcomings. Commissioners flagged this as an ongoing issue that had previously been discussed in other meetings.
No formal commission action on Willow occurred at this meeting; the update was informational and will be monitored as the study process continues.
