Selectboard member raises audit concerns; manager says reconciliations are current and a contractor may be retained

New Selectboard member Jackie Wilson told the board on June 9 that constituents raised concerns about audit transparency and outstanding reconciliation issues. "It's just 'hanging there' and should be addressed," Wilson said, adding that voters want to know what steps are being taken to fix any findings and when reconciliation will be complete.
Scott Murphy responded that there is an ongoing monthly bank reconciliation between the general ledger and bank statements and that, due to technical problems with the town’s NEMRC software, the secondary reconciliation had not been done monthly until recently. Murphy said the books are now reconciled with the general ledger and that he is considering contracting with NEMRC to provide the secondary reconciliation service used by other towns. Jonathan West noted the audit document is not labeled or placed correctly on the town website.
