Selectboard approves Center Hill Road closure for October Breaking Bread Heritage Festival

Organizers of the Breaking Bread Heritage Festival, represented at the meeting by Walli Blumm, requested the temporary closure of the short portion of Center Hill Road next to Adams Park for the event on Oct. 10 (rain date Oct. 11). Police expressed reservations about closing the street because of potential impacts to emergency vehicle access and weekend traffic; organizers agreed to work with the Manchester Police Department on traffic control and pedestrian safety.
Jonathan West moved to approve the closure and Jackie Wilson seconded; the vote was 5-0 in favor. Selectboard members stressed that organizers must coordinate with police on safe closure procedures, including staff or volunteers at crosswalks. Blumm said Katherine Sullivan from Squirrel Boutique is “all in” and organizers intend to include food trucks and park-based vendors.
