The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt FCO 2025-25, reducing the speed limit on a portion of Grant Line Road (between St. Joe's Road and Barack Obama Way/Security Parkway) to 45 mph.
Chief Operations Officer Nick Creevy said the proposed reduction responds to a request from HWC; Horacio Urieta told the board the reduction addresses a segment where the railroad comes close to Grant Line Road near the Monon South Freedom Trail. Resident Joseph Moore spoke during public comment and asked the county to provide a grace period for motorists to adjust and to publicize the change to avoid enforcement being perceived as a speed trap.
The minutes record that the ordinance was approved with unanimous consent. The record does not include an implementation date, signage plan or enforcement details.
