Commissioners uphold termination of golf-course restaurant lease after tenant complaints about communication

The tenants said they were surprised by county notices of alleged contract violations and that they received little or no prior communication about problems.
"We never received any kind of communication that there were any types of issues," the tenant said, adding the lack of notice prevented them from addressing complaints. They offered a counterproposal to shorten their lease termination to March 1, 2027 to ease transition if the board would allow them to finish out a period of operations.
Board discussion noted persistent golfer complaints about hours, beverage availability and cleanliness. After debating whether to revisit the earlier decision, the commission voted to let the previously enacted termination stand and did not amend the earlier action.
The tenants said they prefer to avoid protracted legal action, but expressed disappointment and asked commissioners to consider better communication procedures in the future.
