Commissioners adopt 2026 noxious-weed eradication report and management plan

Pawnee County commissioners approved the 2026 Annual Noxious Weed Eradication Progress Report (required by KSA 2-1316) and the 2026 Noxious Weed Management Plan after Road and Bridge head Kurt Demel reviewed survey and treatment summaries.
Road and Bridge/Noxious Weed/Zoning Department Head Kurt Demel presented the county'025 treatment summaries, the 2025 progress report and the 2026 management plan to the Pawnee County Board of Commissioners on March 16. Commissioner Burdett moved to approve the 2026 Annual Noxious Weed Eradication Progress Report as required by KSA 2-1316; Commissioner Miller seconded the motion and it passed 3-0.
Demel also explained that the State of Kansas dictates which areas must be surveyed for noxious weeds. Commissioners then approved the 2026 Management Plan for the Noxious Weed Department by motion of Burdett, seconded by Miller; that motion passed 3-0. The reports and plan are recorded in the county files and were presented as part of the department—s statutory reporting and planning duties.
