Commissioners authorize Kirkham Michael to do wetland and archaeological work for proposed feedlot road

The Pawnee County Board of Commissioners on March 16 approved an Additional Services Authorization for Kirkham Michael to perform wetland delineation field work, a pedestrian archaeological survey, reporting to the Kansas State Historical Society and related tasks for the proposed feedlot road. The authorization was presented by Road and Bridge/Noxious Weed/Zoning Department Head Kurt Demel and was moved by Commissioner Miller and seconded by Commissioner Burdett; the motion passed 3-0.
Kurt described the scope as wetland delineation, an archaeological pedestrian field survey and preparation and submittal of the required reports. Commissioners approved the contract on an hourly basis “for $20,000.00, not to exceed $35,000.00,” per the motion language. Commissioners expressed objection to additional federal requirements associated with improving the existing roadway, but the authorization and funding cap were adopted. The action was recorded as project number 2602835.
