Selectboard hears recreation and planning updates; splashpad fence relocation estimates requested

Jonathan West said town feedback on the new splashpad has been positive but noted many residents expected it would be accessible without a pool pass because it is inside the pool perimeter. Town Manager Scott Murphy said the change was made during design and construction and he has asked Recreation Director Brian Van Horn to obtain estimates to move the fence, which would allow splashpad access when the pool is closed.
The board also discussed the Town Plan update. Beattie explained that the Town Plan is a Planning Commission process and not directly regulatory except for certain Act 250 criteria, but the Selectboard still uses the Plan to inform decisions. Murphy said a draft of the new Town Plan will be released July 13 and will be circulated to boards and the Selectboard as it is refined. West noted the housing task force has been collecting feedback and suggested that information will help shape the draft Plan. No formal votes were taken.
