Kane County updates cooperative road maintenance agreement with Garfield County

The Kane County Commission voted Jan. 13 to adopt an updated Cooperative Road Maintenance Agreement with Garfield County. Chair Celeste Meyeres explained the counties have had an agreement since 2011 because Garfield County has easier access to some shared roads; under the agreement Garfield County receives a portion of Kane County's B&C roads budget to maintain those roads.
Commissioners described the update as modernizing an older contract; the motion to adopt the updated agreement carried unanimously. The approved agreement clarifies responsibilities and payment arrangements for joint road maintenance going forward.
