Floyd County commissioners voted Dec. 2 to accept a quote from vendor BEC Brown for road equipment, with acceptance contingent on the closing of a general obligation (GO) bond expected on or about Dec. 15, 2025. President Al Knable said the contingency explicitly ties the purchase to the bond closing: "if the quote is accepted, it is contingent upon the closing of the GO Bond."
Commissioners' CFO Stan Heil described the financing plan, saying that "if the GO Bond is accepted, it will be used for the first-year installment of payment." The equipment list on the quote includes two multi-purpose tractors (one larger and one smaller), a leaf collector, hot box, dump trailer, mastic machine and street sweeper. The board approved the acceptance motion on a unanimous voice vote after Vice President Jason Sharp moved and Commissioner Frank Loop seconded. President Al Knable also commended Sidney Main for his work related to the Road Department during the discussion.
Next steps: the purchase remains contingent on the GO bond closing; the commissioners recorded the acceptance and will proceed only if and when the bond closes.
