Police, fire chiefs report activity; fire department receives $22,000 Ho-Chunk grant

Police Chief Jeremy Bonikowske told trustees the department handled 24 calls for service in March, including 10 traffic stops and four citations. He also reported that the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office handled 35 calls in the village area and provided extra patrols and civil-process service.
Chief Bonikowske said the cost to undercoat the squad to prevent rust was about $820. Fire Chief Troy Madland reported seven calls for March for a total of 75 hours and year-to-date 271 hours compared with 303 hours at the same point last year. Chief Madland said the department was awarded a $22,000 Ho-Chunk grant presented at Indian Heights and that the department will sell a decommissioned command truck after completing decommissioning.
