Griffin & Strong disparity study and Van Turner supplier-diversity role highlighted

Tish Towns said Regional One has engaged Atlanta firm Griffin & Strong to conduct a disparity study and that the study will inform purchasing policies and MWBE recommendations. She said the firm recently held a kickoff meeting and will begin monthly meetings.
Commissioners noted that the letter from Griffin & Strong in the meeting packet described addressing purchasing policy issues and supplier diversity; Janice Banks emphasized that the disparity study should include procurement policies and be the basis for MWBE recommendations. The mayor and task force members indicated Van Turner will provide periodic reports on supplier diversity efforts.
Towns offered to ask Griffin & Strong whether preliminary findings can be reported as the study progresses and to coordinate with attorney Strong and counsel to confirm what can be shared publicly.
