Masons donate $3,000 to refurbish Isle La Motte welcome sign; board accepts volunteer plan

The Selectboard on Feb. 18 accepted a citizen-led plan to refurbish the welcome sign at the head of Isle La Motte and to replace the planter, with the Masons donating $3,000 to cover the work.
Chair Peter Brzozowy said volunteers offered to refurbish the sign and replace the wooden planter with stone at no cost to the town; a separate volunteer group proposed adding stone benches made from quarry stone while leaving existing wooden benches in place. The board voted to move forward with the donor-funded refurbishing and planting plan in time for the island's 250th anniversary events if volunteers can complete the work.
Updates will be added to future agendas as volunteers coordinate materials and timing.
