Selectboard: sheetrock, pump-room and heating work underway after town-office water damage

Chair Peter Brzozowy updated the Selectboard on ongoing repairs to the Isle La Motte Town Office following water damage. He reported that sheetrock in the bathrooms and pump-room work should be completed by Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, enabling plumbers to finish installing fixtures. The chair said the heating-system work is continuing and that the town is obtaining quotes for the next phase of flooring and for removal/trimming of cabinets and sheetrock.
The board ratified at the meeting the prior decision to hire Bonneville Brothers Construction to install sheetrock in the bathrooms for no more than $500 so plumbers could complete their work. The motion to ratify that hire was made by Peter Brzozowy, seconded by Pat Treckman and carried unanimously. A local person is also exploring options for a three-bay sink that will fit the kitchen; the discount corner sink initially offered would not fit.
Why it matters: repair timing affects when town staff and volunteers can fully use the office and kitchen space and influences any budget or insurance follow-up. The town’s 'flood group' will meet again on Feb. 10 at 10:00 a.m. to continue coordination.
