At the July 21 meeting several residents spoke during the visitors portion about proposed roadside clearing on lower Hazens Notch Road. Bob Gillmore supported opening sightlines by clearing roadside brush and trees but said the higher area adjacent to the river-side properties should be left to protect privacy; he suggested planting privacy-screen vegetation for river-side homeowners. Charlie Hancock, who serves as the town's Tree Warden, agreed to review vegetation options with Gillmore.
Theresa Almy opposed broader clearing near the swimming hole because she said it could attract more parking and traffic; she reported a previously placed sign had been stolen and suggested alternatives such as painting speed limits on the roadway. Roberta Baker asked for follow-up on Hill West’s scheduled ditching and expressed concern about washouts and vegetation overgrowth. The board confirmed Hill West work is scheduled to start July 23.
