Committee presses staff on $0 equipment and capital improvements line
Summary

A committee member pointed out that the equipment and building-improvements line on page 13 shows $0 and asked whether that means no improvements will happen. Business manager Marie Knight explained that the general fund currently does not include capital purchases over $5,000 and that the district maintains a long-term maintenance fund for larger projects.
"That we have not budgeted for any capital improvements, anything over $5,000," Marie said, adding that ongoing maintenance and smaller repairs are handled as they arise but larger projects would rely on set-asides from the maintenance fund. Members noted the district had recently completed work such as a gym floor and parking-lot repairs and said expectations should be aligned with the limited discretionary funds remaining under a 5.1% ending-fund balance.
