Newly elected Northlake council members receive certificates; two take oath

The council presented certificates of election to the winners of the May 3 general election and invited them to take the oath of office. Mayor Brian Monti called members forward "in order placed;" Certificates were presented to those elected to council places and family members were invited to join for photos.
Merrill Lorenz (Place 5) and Josh Pizzuto (Place 6) were administered the statutory oath of office and repeated the oath aloud. Lorenz recited her oath and completed the signing and declined an official promotional photo; Pizzuto likewise recited the oath and accepted congratulations from the mayor and council. Mayor Monti noted that other members will complete their oaths "at a different time" as needed. The swearing-in formalities followed the council’s acceptance of the county canvas earlier in the meeting.
