Northlake expands striping program; staff will add stop bars at all stop signs

Public works staff told council the town’s new signing-and-striping crew has installed stop bars, legends and delineators across town and is focused on higher-traffic collectors this summer.
"So far we've done 14 stop bars, 14 legends, and about 7,900 feet, linear feet of centerline painting," staff member Eric reported and described the new equipment and process, including a reel-mounted paint system and glass-bead reflectivity for stop legends.
Councilors discussed whether to apply optional stop-word stencils or keep markings limited to collectors and neighborhood edges. Several members urged prioritizing Elm and Pecan Parkway for striping and requested a follow-up list of priorities so staff can return with an action plan. Staff said residential interior streets generally are not striped and that stop bars will be placed at stop signs as a safety standard unless council directs otherwise.
