Northlake canvass board certifies May 3 election results; council approves county canvas

Mayor Brian Monti opened the special canvass meeting and read a certification of the Denton County Elections Administration final canvas report for the Town of Northlake’s general election held on 05/03/2025. "I, I'm Mayor Brian Monti, presiding officer of canvassing authority for the Town Of Northlake General Election held on 05/03/2025 in Denton County, Texas, hereby certify that the following is total of all votes received by each candidate as verified in the Denton County Elections Administration final canvas report," he said.

Monti announced the county totals for the council races: Roger Sessions (Place 4) — 385 votes; Merrill Lorenz (Place 5) — 397 votes; Argo Flores (Place 6) — 1,153 votes; and Josh Pizzuto (Place 6) — 323 votes. The mayor noted a quorum was present and referenced the statutory requirement for canvass completion under Texas Election Code section 67.004. A council member moved to approve the county canvas report; the motion was seconded and the council voted to approve the canvass. Mayor Monti announced the motion "carries unanimously" with six voting in favor and one member absent, and said the canvass was closed.

The council’s action at the special canvass meeting formally adopts the county’s certified totals and completes the local canvass step required by state law. No public testimony was received during the public-input period at the start of the meeting.
