Interim Fire Chief Mike McCray told council the department now has six new members on its volunteer roster and volunteers are attending Firefighter I training. McCray discussed options for what the permanent fire chief position would include in pay and benefits and said town‑owned land is being considered for a temporary or permanent fire facility while the main station is under review.
McCray also invited the council and public to a community bonfire where staff will show yard‑debris disposal operations and the site where temporary or permanent facilities could be sited. No hiring or compensation decisions for a permanent chief were recorded at the Dec. 9 meeting.
