Staff notifies HRPB of condemned accessory structures and LDR timing change tied to state law

Staff notified the Historic Resources Preservation Board of condemnation notices for two accessory structures that are part of contributing properties and briefed members on edits to the summer LDR package: Senate Bill 180 prevents certain local LDR changes from taking effect before Oct. 1, 2027, including a proposed adjustment to parking reductions.
At the end of the meeting staff provided several department reports. The board was notified that two detached accessory structures (at 218 S. K Street and 216 S. L Street), both part of contributing resources, had been declared unsafe by the building official and were subject to condemnation and potential demolition; staff said accessory structures, not principal buildings, were condemned and the board has been notified as required.
Staff also updated the board on the summer LDR package scheduled for first reading at City Commission next week. The city removed several proposed changes after Senate Bill 180 passed earlier in the legislative session; staff said the state statute blocks municipal LDR changes that would be more restrictive or burdensome until Oct. 1, 2027. As a result, the city will not proceed with some proposed parking reductions and changes to integrated fuel‑generator rules until the statutory restriction expires.
