Veneta council directs tax-share increase to fully cover LCSO contract rise

After discussion among councilors, Council President Pat Coy moved the direction and the motion passed 5-0.
The change is intended to close the funding gap created by LCSO’s contract increase for the coming budget year. The council record lists no change to staffing levels as part of this motion; it is a funding-direction vote to adjust the city’s allocation. The council did not adopt new ordinance language on the matter during the meeting; staff were directed to implement the funding approach and carry it into budget work.
