The Nye County Water District Governing Board swore in newly appointed members and reconstituted its leadership during the Aug. 12 meeting in Pahrump. Helene Williams moved that Ed Goodhart serve as chair and Bruce Holden as secretary; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
"If I may, mister chair, I'd like to make a motion that Ed Goodhart hold the position of chair and that mister Bruce Holden hold the secretary position," Helene Williams said during the meeting as she put the slate before the board. After roll-call voting the chair announced the motion carried 6–0. The board also considered and carried a motion to reappoint Williams as vice chair; the reappointment passed with one abstention recorded.
Board members raised a brief procedural question during the vice‑chair vote about whether an individual could vote for a position they sought. The chair and liaison clarified that making a motion to appoint oneself would be improper but voting for oneself is permitted; the board proceeded to record the outcome. The new slate takes effect immediately. The board adjourned other business and continued with the remaining agenda items.
