Following debate and an earlier failed reallocation motion, the Hillsborough County commission voted to waive a non‑earmarking policy and then approved flagged community projects identified in the meeting packet.
Commissioner Myers moved to waive the rule and Commissioner Cohen seconded; the board voted 6–1 to waive the rule (Commissioner Wostel voted no). With the waiver passed, Commissioner Myers moved to approve the identified flag items and the motion carried 6–1.
Board members said some flagged items will require additional staff work to identify funding sources and that staff should return with implementation details before final budget adoption. Several commissioners also said they plan to refine their individual flag lists before the next budget hearing.
