The commission discussed improving conservation easement monitoring by centrally storing shapefiles and exploring a shared Avenza/Gaia login to assist with boundary checks. Members noted that specialized easement-monitoring applications used by large land trusts can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars annually, and suggested seeking grant funding or support from the Tamworth Foundation to cover subscription costs.
Commissioners agreed to organize electronic files for ongoing projects and annual monitoring. Britt Lagasse, Jeremy Phillips and Ned Beecher will work together on establishing storage and workflows to make monitoring more efficient and legally robust.
