Tamworth Conservation Commission to submit warrant article for Great Hill Fire Tower maintenance

At its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting, the Tamworth Conservation Commission moved to place a warrant article on the 2026 Town Warrant to fund maintenance of the Great Hill Fire Tower, including repair of the wooden cab and painting of metal and wood components. Commissioner Dylan Alden moved the motion and Commissioner Teresa Fournier seconded; the motion carried.
Commissioners did not settle on a dollar amount at the meeting. Ned Beecher said he had been approached by a contractor and would follow up to see whether the contractor could provide a rough estimate in time to include a price in the article by the Jan. 16 warrant-article deadline. The Commission agreed that the dollar amount in the warrant article could be amended at Town Meeting if grant funding or more precise estimates become available. The next concrete step is that staff or Ned will collect the contractor estimate and the warrant article will be filed by the Jan. 16 deadline.
