State engineer outlines community wastewater models used by nearby towns

Lynette Claudon, Chief Pollution Control Design Engineer with the Department of Environmental Conservation, presented possible approaches for a community wastewater system for New Haven’s village center and cited examples in nearby towns. Claudon pointed to Shoreham and Addison as successful examples in Addison County and noted that Waitsfield placed its system under ball fields, saying that “one would never know it is there and there is no smell due to the vent systems.”
Claudon offered a slide show describing technical options and siting practices and said the presentation is available for review at the Town Office.
