The Mount Holly Select Board unanimously accepted the resignation of Town Treasurer Liz Karle at a special meeting April 29 and agreed the board will appoint a replacement to complete the term through March 2027.
Town Treasurer Mark Turco announced the resignation and moved that the board accept it; Diana Garrow seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Mr. Turco asked the Town Clerk to advertise the vacancy for the treasurer position. The minutes note that outgoing Assistant Treasurers must submit required documentation as part of the transition.
Board members discussed the procedural steps required if the town later seeks to change the office from elected to appointed: Select Board member Dennis Devereux raised the idea of moving to an appointed treasurer, and Jeff Chase emphasized that such a change would need a formal vote and that state residency or voter-registration rules for an appointee would apply. The board did not take a vote on changing the office at the special meeting. The minutes state the appointed replacement would serve until March 2027.
