Davis County renews five-year agreement with Shums Coda for plan review and inspection services

The Board approved a five-year standard professional services contract with Shums Coda Associates, Inc. for nonexclusive building and fire plan examination and inspection services. Kent Andersen, Director of Community & Economic Development — Planning, said the firm has provided third-party services since 2021 and the contract passes hourly fees through to applicants.
The contract lists hourly rates ranging from $50 to $140 and runs from July 14, 2026, to June 31, 2031, per the agenda; Commissioners approved the item unanimously with a motion by Lorene Kamalu and a second from John Crofts. The agreement is intended to offer plan review and inspection capacity to supplement County staff and support applicants that require timely reviews.
