The Davis County Commission paused routine business to honor staff milestones at the July 14 meeting, recognizing employees with 5-, 10- and 20-year service awards across multiple departments.
Deputy Director Rachelle Blackham introduced Teresa Garcia of the Health Department and described her as the "definition of hardworking," noting Garcia’s long service to the Latino community, work on tuberculosis screenings, low-income dental grant management and teaching a Spanish food-handler course for nearly two decades. Other honorees included Justin Vicente (15 years in the Sheriff’s Office, noted by Sergeant Brad Harrop for his supervisory roles and previous service in Corrections), and multiple 5- and 10-year recipients in Animal Care, the Assessor's Office, Library, Golf Courses and Information Systems. Brendan Joseph jokingly awarded Ash Buckley a playful quip calling a cat-related joke a "purr-litzer prize."
The recognitions included specific examples of staff duties and contributions (for example, an Animal Care dispatcher credited with handling over 13,000 cases and an Assessor staffer who earned a state appraiser license and helped with data conversion).
