The Newbury Selectboard amended its Social Service Appropriations Policy on Jan. 14 to accommodate modest funding requests without requiring a petition. The motion, made by Chair Susan Culp and seconded by Shauna Prime, also confirmed that eligible funding requests may be submitted by letter or e-mail addressed to the Town Clerk and the Selectboard.
Board members framed the amendment as a way to simplify modest funding requests while retaining policy oversight; the change applies to smaller-scale requests that do not meet the petition threshold. The updated policy text and administrative instructions will govern how outside organizations and residents submit requests going forward.
