County buys excavators and approves equipment and truck purchases

Nemaha County approved multiple equipment purchases in 2015 to support road and public works operations. Early in the year the board opened sealed excavator bids and later approved the purchase of a 2015 John Deere 210G from Murphy Tractor and a 2014 Caterpillar 320EL from Nebraska Machinery. The board also considered repair-or-replace decisions for dozers and approved purchases of parts and a used motor when cost-effective.
Later in the year the board approved purchasing new dump-truck equipment through state contract procedures and authorized the purchase of a 2016 Mack truck through RDO Truck Center. The board recorded motions and roll-call votes for these transactions and authorized payment schedules and vendor contract signatures as required.
“For our road crews to be effective, we need reliable equipment,” Commissioner Bob Hutton said during a procurement session. The board balanced repair quotes and replacement offers in recorded motions.
