Nemaha County awards culvert and bridge contracts, sets bridge inspections

Nemaha County moved multiple infrastructure projects forward in 2015. The Board of Commissioners awarded culvert orders and individual bridge contracts after publicly opening sealed bids throughout February–April and later months, and signed engineering and procurement contracts necessary to begin work.
Notable actions included awarding the 2015 culvert order to Ace Irrigation & Mfg. (bid opened May 6), contracting M.E. Collins for two box culverts, accepting Midwest Underground’s low bridge bid for Nemaha Southwest (contingent on Mainelli Wagner & Associates review), and scheduling fracture-critical bridge inspections with Mainelli Wagner & Associates. The board recorded roll-call votes approving those awards and authorized the chair to sign associated contracts.
“The culvert and bridge work is staged to match grant and federal-aid schedules,” County Commissioner Marvin Bohling said during a procurement session. The board also authorized the county’s participation in STP/HBP buyout and accepted federal permitting paperwork for Corps and NDOR obligations, enabling projects to proceed to construction.
