Brush fire near Davis County animal shelter contained; director thanks firefighters and volunteers

Michelle Hicks, introduced at the July 7 meeting as Davis County's Animal Care Director, reported a brush fire across the street from the Animal Shelter at East Wilderness Park. She said Kaysville City Fire arrived and extinguished the blaze before it could affect the shelter. Hicks expressed gratitude for community volunteers who offered to help evacuate animals if the fire had threatened the facility.
Commissioner Lorene Kamalu later praised the Animal Care operation and thanked current and former shelter leadership for coordinating with the County fire warden in advance of a difficult fire season. No damage to shelter operations was reported at the meeting.
