The New Haven Library Trustees submitted a letter asking the Selectboard to reconsider the proposed placement for the Homer Hulbert memorial after trustees learned the memorial will comprise three separate pillars rather than the single small pillar originally described.
Selectboard members said that when first approached the memorial had been described as a small pillar with inscriptions on either side but that later information showed the design contains three separate pillars. The board discussed alternate locations and the possibility of a temporary location while an exact permanent site is identified.
Selectboard Assistant Pam Kingman was asked to coordinate a meeting between Ed Hilbert, Kathy Cahill and Chair John Roleau (or another Selectboard member) to find an appropriate location. The minutes do not record a formal vote on the memorial site at this meeting.
