Mayor raises concern about children using air guns; updates commissioners on sewer lateral mapping

Mayor Knight addressed the commission with two items: a public-safety concern about children using air guns in town and an update on ongoing sewer-improvement work. The mayor said the behavior was "beyond stupid" when people were shooting at targets set on fences and noted safety risks; he added that "firing them across roads is illegal by state law." Commissioners advised coordinating with the sheriff and town attorney for enforcement and local ordinance options.

On infrastructure, Mayor Knight said engineers were meeting about the Yamichetta sewer improvements and that residents had submitted maps showing where they wanted laterals placed. "People have sent in their maps of where they want their laterals spread," the mayor said. He asked county staff to help coordinate equipment (a roller/compactor) for the work and said he was working with engineers to minimize pavement impacts. Commissioners agreed to coordinate through county road staff and flagged further discussion for the next meeting.
