Board adopts civility pledge, tables revised bylaw on conduct of meetings

At its June 25 meeting the Ridgefield Board of Education adopted a resolution pledging to ``practice and promote civility'' among members and in public communications, and approved a first reading of multiple revised and new bylaws, policies and regulations. The package included changes to notice and legal-notice bylaws, curriculum and equity policies, library materials policy revisions, and updates to procurement and federal award-related policies.
Notably, Item #3 — Bylaw #0164, Conduct of Board Meeting — was tabled by Board member Patrick Jo and removed from final approval actions. The civility pledge resolution states the board "pledges to practice and promote civility, to engage in civil discussions, to respect and tolerate the viewpoints of others and to work collaboratively," and the board transmitted a copy to the New Jersey School Boards Association.
