Nemaha County’s commissioners approved several contracts and reappointments that affect legal, social‑service and fiscal operations.
In March the board approved an amended contract with Maximus Inc. to continue HHS Title IV‑D child‑support reimbursement services and extended terms through December 31, 2015. Later in the year the board approved a four‑year public defender contract with the Fankhauser, Nelson, Werts & Ziskey firm, setting the multi‑year appointment and monthly compensation in a recorded contract.
The board also filled and reappointed multiple seats on area boards — for example, reappointing county representatives to the Five Rivers RC&D, Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging, and Region V Systems — and approved interlocal agreements such as lending Nemaha County administration to provide health insurance to Southeast District Health Department employees under a recorded interlocal.
"Motion by Wittmann, seconded by Bohling to approve the amended contract with Maximus for H.H.S. IV Reimbursement until December 31, 2015," the minutes record the approval; later the board ratified multi‑year public defender terms.
