At its July 28 meeting the board heard a presentation from Kevin Burnison of the Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) and authorized the chairman to sign the Financial Aid Agreement, appointing SENDD as the county's administrator for the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant program (EECBG). The board recorded that the FY2010–11 SENDD dues request was not increased.
Minutes later show Nemaha County received related grant funding and processed drawdowns: a county press release recorded that Nemaha County received $137,000 for the EECBG for window and light replacements across county buildings, and a Dec. 3 deposit of $96,464.97 was recorded as reimbursement activity tied to the grant. The board also authorized the county to sign the administrative agreement with SENDD and to allow SENDD to administer the program for Nemaha County.
Commissioners framed the agreement as an administrative step to manage the grant project scope (courthouse windows; lighting replacement at county facilities) and to obtain technical drawdown reimbursements recorded in the county treasury.
