Board approves fracture‑critical bridge inspections, utility permits and culvert contracts

Nemaha County’s Board of Commissioners spent considerable time in 2011 on road, bridge and right‑of‑way business. In February the board adopted Resolution 2011‑06 authorizing chairman signature on an NDOR agreement (BR‑NBIS(91) Control No. 00840) to perform fracture‑critical bridge inspections on county bridges.
The board authorized multiple utility crossings and right‑of‑way permits during the year (Windstream and OPPD applications for overhead and underground crossings were approved at several meetings). It opened and awarded bids for corrugated metal pipe for one‑and‑six‑year culvert projects (the board accepted Ace Irrigation’s bids for Nemaha Southwest C64(193) and C64(264)).
Faced with flood damage from 2011, the board also directed NDOR project agreements and consultant selection for BRO projects related to the Brock North/Peru West corridor. "Motion by Bohling, seconded by Hutton to approve the agreement with Nebraska Department of Roads to conduct Fracture Critical Bridge Inspections," the minutes record when the board adopted the inspection agreement.
The board additionally approved NDOR task orders and Responsible Charge designations for multiple flood repair projects (Resolutions designating Joyce Oakley as Nemaha County’s Responsible Charge for BRO‑7064 projects are recorded). Next steps included consultant work orders, environmental studies, and tasking Mainelli Wagner & Associates to complete inspection and load‑rating work as required by NDOR.
