Nemaha County board elects leadership, approves routine business for 2012

Nemaha County commissioners opened 2012 with standard organizational business on Jan. 11, when County Clerk Joyce Oakley called the board to order and roll‑call votes elected Commissioner Bob Hutton as chairman and Commissioner Marvin Bohling as vice chairman. The board approved its agenda, accepted the December minutes and authorized payment of presented claims.
The meeting included several administrative items that set the county’s near‑term work. The board approved a 4‑Step fertilizer program with American Lawncare, Inc. (county cost $1,360 and $420 for aeration) and approved or tabled multiple road‑entrance applications evaluated by the road superintendent. The board adopted Resolution 2012‑01 to reclassify a portion of County Road No. 17 and amended the county permit for under‑crossings to require boring, jack or dry‑auger methods rather than open‑cut for under crossings in county road right‑of‑way.
County Clerk Joyce Oakley recorded roll‑call votes for actions taken during the meetings and noted that agendas were posted and kept available at the clerk’s office and on the county website. The board used executive session on Jan. 11 for a personnel matter (entered at 11:35 a.m., left at 12:10 p.m.) and reported that no action was taken on exit. The board adjourned the meeting at 12:47 p.m.
