Nemaha County commissioners re-elect Hutton as chair, set culvert policy and approve early-year claims

The Nemaha County Board of Commissioners opened its 2013 schedule on Jan. 9 in the Commissioner’s Chambers with County Clerk Joyce Oakley calling the meeting to order. Commissioners Dennis Wittmann nominated Bob Hutton for board chairman and Marvin Bohling for vice chairman; both nominations were approved by roll-call votes with Wittmann, Hutton and Bohling voting aye.
The board adopted a new policy governing culverts for private driveways. Under the motion (moved by Bohling and seconded by Wittmann), the county will provide a single 30-foot driveway culvert entrance when applications are approved by the board; any additional footage requested by a landowner must be paid by that landowner. The motion also states “No culverts and bands will be provided by Nemaha County for private use.” The board approved claims and minutes for the prior meeting by roll-call vote.
