County advances CR 1 project planning; culvert bids opened and accepted, Mooreton loan agreement circulated

Highway Superintendent Jesse Sedler told the board that a landowner meeting for the CR 1 project included an offer of $3,000 per acre for right-of-way acquisitions and that affected areas will be staked before contractors are allowed on site. Sedler said the county will advertise for bids on March 11 with bids due April 6.
State's Attorney Kummer distributed a draft loan agreement between the City of Mooreton and Richland County to cover Mooreton’s portion of the CR 1 project; Kummer said that if signed by the county today it would remain half-executed until the city signs. At the culvert bid opening, Contech Engineered Solutions bid $33.25 per foot for 24" pipe and TrueNorth Steel bid $36.48 per foot; the board later voted to accept the culvert bids.
The board recorded that a Summit Township bridge would be inspected, and Sedler noted the Office of Transportation has been working with the county on haul routes and a possible bridge jumper for a solar project.
